Dan Fischer
President & General Manager

Dan formed HPL Communications with his wife Debbie in November, 2003, and completed their purchase of WBTA in February, 2004. Dan has held various management positions in broadcasting since 1971. Dan, a Buffalo native, spent the early years of his career in broadcast news and won several awards for his work from The Associated Press, United Press International and the New York State Broadcasters Association. He is a frequent guest lecturer on radio broadcasting at SUNY Fredonia and for many years, was an adjunct faculty member at Jamestown Community College. Dan was twice selected to serve as a consultant to the US State Department on private radio development projects in Africa and Eastern Europe. He and Debbie have traveled extensively throughout the world and are very happy to make Batavia their new home.

Debrah A. Fischer
Vice-President & Business Manager

Debbie brings a wealth of broadcast experience to WBTA. During her career, Debbie has worked as Controller for a group of nine radio stations in Western New York and Pennsylvania. She is a native of Jamestown, NY, where she met her husband Dan while on the job at WKSN/WHUG. Debbie holds two Associate Degrees from Jamestown Community College and a B.S. in Business Administration from SUNY Fredonia. Debbie serves on the Board of Directors of the Resource Center in Chautauqua County, an agency dedicated to helping individuals with disabilities. Dan and Debbie have two daughters, Susan and Karen, and two grandchildren, Brianna and Christian.

Jerry Warner
Morning Show Host


Jerry Warner has been with WBTA since 1971. Jerry graduated from Oakfield Central School in 1960 and still lives in Oakfield with his wife Darlene (Warner) Warner. Jerry was with the Army National Guard for 6 years. He has worked as a morning disc jockey for WBNY in Buffalo, WEZO and WISH in Rochester. Jerry also is the host and developer of Prime of your Life, a radio program aimed at senior citizens. Jerry and his wife have two sons, Michael and Stephen and they also own and operate Warner's Flowers and Gifts in Oakfield.

Pam Warren
News Producer/Announcer

 

Born in Massachusetts, Pam Graduated Magna Cum Laude from Suffolk University with a degree in Communications and English Literature in 1991. It was shortly thereafter when she moved to Genesee County with her husband, Gavin and his family. She has been a proud resident of Western New York ever since. This is Pam’s third stint at WBTA. She started out in Radio as an Intern here one summer while she was still in College, then returned for 5 years as a member of the sales staff and now is back as our afternoon News Producer and Announcer. She currently resides on the family farm in Corfu with 4 emus, 3 dogs and 2 chinchillas.

Wanda Frank
Community Relations Director

A Lockport, NY native, Wanda Frank has happily spent the majority of her life in Batavia and for 23 years as Hostess of WBTA’s “Frankly Speaking,” that currently aires every Wednesday from 9am to 10am. Wanda served for 10 years As Executive Director of Genesee Arts Council and has 30 years of involvement with Batavia Players, as director, actress and Board Member. Wanda is a 1997 graduate of GCC with an Associates Degree in Theatre Arts. In addition to hosting her Wednesday morning program, Wanda also hosts “WBTA Showtime” on Sunday afternoons and serves as the station’s Community Relations Director.

Janelle Gies
Announcer

Janelle is currently attending Genesee Community College majoring in business. She is involved at the college radio station, WGCC, 90.7. Janelle works part-time at WBTA directing Play-by-Play sports broadcasts and recording commercial production. She lives in Caledonia with her parents and has three sisters and one brother. Janelle describes herself as “the lucky middle child.” She also says she is “very happily taken.”
Janelle’s favorite Bible verse is Revelation 22:20, “Even so, come, Lord Jesus.”

Martha Bailey
Account Executive

Martha grew up in Rochester, but has lived in Genesee County for 28 years. 22 of them in LeRoy. Martha has an associate’s degree in Marketing from GCC, is an active member of the American Legion auxiliary in LeRoy, and loves bowling and plays around at golf a little. Formerly the owner of Martha’s Smoke Shoppe in LeRoy, she has two children, Jaime and Christopher and husband Russell. At home she enjoys the company of her chocolate lab, Kahlua, and gold tiger cat Pretty Boy and the new stray, Midnight, along with the fish and ferrets. Only Midnight is Martha’s, but of course she is the one who takes care of them. Martha and her family enjoy getting away to Black Lake whenever they can.

Lorne Way
General Sales Manager

Lorne was born and raised in Genesee County. He went to Elba Central School where he enjoyed playing sports. He attended Genesee Community College, SUNY Buffalo and received his Bachelor degree in Business Administration from SUNY Brockport. Lorne has been with WBTA since 1989. Lorne started out as a Sales Account Representative and has worked his way up to Sales Manager as well as General Manager. Lorne has a home in Elba, and is proud to call Genesee County his home.
