A domestic disturbance triggers a police stand-off on Miller Avenue in the Batavia.
BPD responded yesterday afternoon to a report of a man attacking a woman in a lower apartment at Number 3 Miller.
As police arrived, a man later identified as 40 year old Gordon Sprague, locked himself inside the apartment and refused to communicate with officers.
Additional lawmen and the K-9 from then sheriff’s Office arrived and after about an hour, Sprague came out and was arrested without incident.
Police said Sprague was found to be carrying a switchblade knife.
That resulted in a felony weapons charge.
Sprague is in the county jail without bail.

Three Genesee county woman are facing charges of welfare fraud.
25 year old Kimberly Brodsky of Bank Street in the city is accused of collected 24-hundred dollars in benefits she was not entitled to.
Brodsky is charged with two low grade felonies.

54 year old Susan Jordon of State Street, Batavia. Is accused of collecting 31-hundred dollars in benefits she was not entitled to;
and 52 year old Catherine Spink of Genesee St in Corfu is charged in submitting false documents which resulted in her receiving 36-hundred dollars in benefits.
Anyone wishing to report suspected welfare fraud should contact the county’s Department of Social Services. All calls kept confidential.

Lance Riley, who has lived in both Dansville and Perry, is charged with repeatedly raping a 15 year old girl.
State Police said the 38 year old Riley subjected the teenager to various sex acts multiple times at his Borden Avenue home in Perry since March.
Riley was arraigned in Perry Village Court and remanded to Wyoming County Jail in lieu of $100,000 bail.

A Chautauqua County man is charged with manslaughter stemming from a fatal accident near Varysburg.
Joshua Huntress, of Mayville has been charged with Manslaughter in the death of a Tonawanda woman last Sunday.
66 year old Tomasa Martinez was killed when the motorcycle on which she was a passenger was struck by Huntress along Route 20A.
Authorities said Huntress was westbound when he crossed over into the opposite and struck two motorcycles, each carrying a passenger, one of them was Martinez.
Huntress is in the Wyoming County Jail in lieu of $250,000.
