While Lake Ontario Shoreline communities continue to deal with record lake levels and erosion, a Major Disaster Declaration from FEMA was announced but not regarding the flooding.

The Winter Storm Stella that blew through the region from March 14th through the 15th apparently led to $31.4 million dollars in damages and response costs.

A Major Disaster Declaration and in part federal assistance can be sought once the threshold of $27.7 million in damages is reached.

Local officials along with the Governor have requested that the Lake Shoreline Flooding receive the same declaration.

At last report the total damages across the region had already exceeded the $27.7 million threshold.
