The Alexander volunteer fire department is receiving financial help in a big way. Congressman Chris Lee has awarded the department nearly $77,000 dollars of federal money in order to buy what is called “critical equipment.”
The funds come from the Department of Homeland Security’s Assistance to Firefighters Grant.
Firefighters in Alexander say they plan to purchase new radios, escape harnesses, personal protective gear, and a thermal imaging camera.
