New York Senator Chuck Schumer is calling on the feds to help fight the rising number of opioid deaths in New York State.
Schumer is demanding the DEA provide New York State with one of four special heroin enforcement groups that are being provided to states suffering from opioid abuse. 
He says the groups are comprised of special agents who will work with local police to stop heroin and fentanyl from coming into the state. 
Schumer says overdose rates in New York are among the highest in the nation.

Basom teenager busted as a high tech peeping Tom..
The 17-year-old boy from Maple Road in Basom has been charged with unlawful surveillance.
According to the Genesee County Sheriff’s Office the teenager is accused of hiding a cell phone in the ceiling of a locker room at Oakfield-Alabama High School.
Deputies said the cellphone was recording at the time it was located.
The 17-year-old was arraigned in Oakfield Town Court and released under supervision of Genesee Justice.
His name is being withheld due to his possible youthful offender status.

A Canandaigua man is accused of falsely reporting a serious incident.  Ontario County deputies said 74-year-old Robert Fisher called 911 claiming a woman he knew had been killed and that he had a shotgun. 
Deputies said they discovered the woman was fine and Fisher didn't have a shotgun.  He was ticketed and is due back in court at a later time.

Rochester police have a man in custody they say hit a man in a wheelchair.  Police say Devin Dix hit the man crossing Clifford Avenue yesterday morning.  Dix reportedly ran from the scene and was arrested shortly after.  The victim was taken to the hospital with serious leg injuries.

Today marks the home opener for the Batavia Muckdogs.
Weather permitting, tonight’s games against the Doubledays will be preceded by an aerial show performed by members of the Western New York skydivers club.
First pitch is 7:05p.m., gates open at 6p.m.
