A National honor for a local pastor.
The National Sheriff’s Association has named Genesee County Sheriff’s Office Chaplain Phillip Green to receive its Chaplain of the Year Award.
Green is pastor of the First Baptist Church in Pavilion.
Genesee County Sheriff Gary Maha nominated Green for the award:
"He has volunteered many hours, without compensation, to assist our deputies at very tragic scenes. He has helped to make notifications to victims' families. He has helped our officers and families in times of need. He makes himself available to this agency 24 - 7, he is certainly worthy of this award."
Pastor Green will receive the award during the National Sheriff’s Association Training Conference in St. Louis this June.
