The City of Batavia’s 2011-2012 budget proposal has been released.
The proposed budget includes a property tax increase of 1.59% over last year. That translates out to $13 more for the average home assessed at $80,000 dollars.
The budget includes small increases to City water rates and capital improvement fees.
Increases in state retirement costs, coupled with low sales tax revenues in the city, are being blamed for the tax increase.
