The mid-March Snow Storm has now officially been declared as a disaster. Governor Cuomo signed an executive order yesterday declaring a disaster in the state of New York from Tuesday until tomorrow. 
The national weather service has cancelled its Winter Storm Warning, the tractor-trailer ban has been lifted on the Thruway and schools in Genesee County are open.
Travel conditions are vastly improved although you may still encounter some icy spots on secondary roads.

The decade long legal flap between the City of Batavia and the City Centre Mall Association has been a money maker for lawyers on both sides.
WBTA News Partner “The Batavian” reports that the city has spent $168-,070 in legal fees over the mall issue.
The merchants have spent $212,056.
Just last month the city council approved a settlement deal to end the legal battle but that settlement has yet to be acted upon by the merchants.
The dispute comes down to responsibility for maintaining and repairing the mall concourse.

The city of Batavia has a new permanent fire chief.
He is Stefano Napolitano, most recently the deputy fire chief for the village of Herkimer, NY.
He begins his new job in Batavia on April 17th.

Around a dozen immigration advocates demonstrated yesterday at the Federal Detention Facility in Batavia in support of Worker’s Center activist Delores Bustamente of Sodus.
She was facing possible deportation but was allowed to stay for another two months following a hearing at the detention Center.
Bustamente came to the US with her daughter to escape an abusive husband
She still holds out hope that President Trump will allow immigration to persons who are not criminal offenders.

Physician assistants are now able to certify New York patients to participate in the medical marijuana program. 
The state Department of Health is also set to add disorders like chronic pain to illnesses eligible to be treated by the legal pot program.
