A heart attack may have preceded an accident that resulted in the death of a Wyoming County man over the New Year’s weekend.
Investigators say 52-year-old Rande Serio of Bliss was at home with his wife when he began to have difficulty breathing.
Serio decided to drive himself to the hospital. While in route, his car went off Route 78 in Wethersfield and crashed into a telephone junction box.
Serio was taken to Wyoming County Community Hospital and pronounced dead. His wife, who was in the car, was not hurt.
25-year-old Amy Sellhorst of York Road, LeRoy has been charged with a felony count of Assault.
LeRoy Police say Amy allegedly struck another person in the face with a blunt object. Sellhorst posted $1,500 bail and was released.
New York Governor Andrew Cuomo attends his first mass as governor a day after being sworn in. Yesterday, Cuomo was joined by his daughters, girlfriend and Lieutenant Governor Bob Duffy.
During the service, Albany Bishop Howard Hubbard said the church is praying lawmakers will uphold promises.
Governor Andrew Cuomo wants to make some major changes to the size of New York State's government. During his inaugural speech, Cuomo stated that he wanted to re-design state programs and departments to operate properly with less money. Cuomo also stated the recent layoff of 891 state workers would stand even if he had to defend the layoffs in court.
A lake effect snow advisory has been issued for four Western New York Counties, but not, Genesee County.
The advisory includes Erie, Cattaraugus, Chautauqua and Wyoming counties.
The National Weather Service predicts decreased visibility while the advisory is in affect until 10 a.m. One to two inches of snow are expected to fall in higher elevations. Drivers are advised to be prepared for quick changes in weather and road conditions.
