Batavia Police are hot on the trail of suspects in a weekend triple-burglary.
Overnight Friday to Saturday, three Batavia businesses were ransacked – the Sherwin-Williams Paint Store, the UPS Store, and a rented business parcel in the Harvester Center. Musical instruments, cash and a safe-box were taken.
Police Detective Todd Crossett says evidence matches up at two of the crime scenes: UPS and Sherwin-Williams. Crossett could not release further information, but he does warn that Christmas is a busy season for thieves.
"This time of year, usually our burglaries increase just because of the holiday," says Crossett. "So, businesses: take some precaution. Make sure your safes are locked; make sure your safes are bolted down."
And Crossett says neighborhood awareness is often the best defense.
"Everyone just keep an eye on everyone else," he urges. "If you see a suspicious vehicle in a parking lot and the business is closed, give us a call. It may give us a lead as to who's doing this."
