The Lake Effect Snow Warning for Genesee County has been extended until 11 o’clock tonight.
Heavy, wet, lake effect snow has continued to come down in our area overnight … especially to the south and west of us.
The New York State Thruway is closed between exits 50 and 55, from the Williamsville Toll to the Lackawanna Toll plaza.
The closing is due to heavy snow and vehicles that have become disabled.
Tractor-trailer trucks have jack-knifed.
State Police are going car-to-car checking on drivers and passengers.

The director of Genesee Justice is willing to give up his job to save his agency.
Ed Minardo says that he would accept a voluntary layoff to save the 30-year-old agency.
Minardo made the suggestion during a special budget meeting of the legislature late yesterday.
He said he hoped that by stepping aside temporarily, it would allow time for the agency to perhaps establish a foundation and seek out private funding.
Some legislators questioned whether the agency would even be the same without Minardo, a comment Minardo dismissed.
Sheriff Gary Maha and District Attorney Lawrence Friedman oppose the cut to Genesee Justice.
The legislature will meet again this Monday to consider Minardo’s suggestion.
A Batavia teenager has been arrested for impersonating a parent.
18-year-old Michael Witcop of Ross Street was arrested and jailed for allegedly phoning the Byron-Bergen Schools, pretending to be a parent of a student there.
The call resulted in the early release of the student.
Later it was determined that Witkop’s involvement with the student violated a court order of protection.
Witcop was jailed in lieu of $250 bail.
