A Town of LeRoy employee has been implicated in a fraud scheme at the town dump.
52-year-old Dawn Mancuso of York Road is charged with Petit Larceny and Official Misconduct. Genesee County Sheriff’s Deputies led an undercover investigation to root out her crime.
Apparently, Mancuso had been taking cash from residents who did not have enough punches on their dump card for the amount of waste they were trying to get rid of. Mancuso would ask for the difference in cash. It wasn’t much – a $10 fee, or similar amount. But Mancuso was pocketing the money for herself.
One county sheriff’s deputy reports that he went undercover in plain clothes several times, and was also asked to pay.
The arrest was made this morning.
