An explosion at a DuPont plant in nearby Tonawanda has left one worker dead and another injured this afternoon.
Apparently, the victims were working on the storage tank at the plant when the blast happened. Police have not yet pinpointed the cause, but believe it could've been the tank's chemical fumes.
700 people are employed at the Tonawanda plant.
Local residents felt the shockwave of the explosion. They had been urged by police to remain inside for fear of toxic chemicals in the air. That warning has since been lifted.
