A Batavia woman has received a federal indictment for Forgery.

55-year-old Deborah Dutton is accused of making and possessing fake checks. Assistant U.S. Attorney Maura O’Donnell says Dutton was able to steal over $77,000 from her employer, A1 Sheet Metal, by forging the company owner’s signature and depositing them for herself.

The U.S. Secret Service has been involved in the investigation.

If convicted, Dutton could face 10 years in prison and $250,000 in fines.
