It will be 20 years in prison for the man who tried to kill his ex-girlfriend’s father in Batavia.
30-year-old Andre Scott of Rochester received his sentence this morning in Genesee County Court from Judge Robert Noonan. Scott was found guilty of Attempted Murder back in August, after setting a fire inside an Elm Street home in January.
Apparently, Scott’s girlfriend had just broken up with him at the time; the girl’s father lived at the Elm Street address that Scott torched. Nobody was hurt in the blaze.
Prosecuting District Attorney Lawrence Friedman says Scott’s actions were heinous.
"This was an outrageous crime," said Friedman. "To go to the extent that this person went to, out of anger and retaliation - to set a fire in a residence while there were four people in there, at night - obviously a very, very dangerous crime."
Scott was also found guilty of Arson.
