Store employees foiled an attempted robbery of the Oakfield Family Pharmacy this afternoon.
State Police said that Cain Catino, 39, of Seven Springs Rd., Batavia, entered through the rear door of the pharmacy shortly after Noon today and walked behind the counter. He demanded Hydrocodone, a prescription painkiller often sold on the street.
At this point, the pharmacist and another employee tackled Catino to the floor. A third man, identified as a village or town employee was outside the store, he came in and assisted the two employees until police arrived.
The would-be robber displayed no weapon during the attempt.
One of the store employees suffered a minor abrasion to his forehead during the scuffle.
State Police took Catino into custody. Charges were still being determined this afternoon.
Trooper Rebecca Gibbons said Catina apparently acted alone. He did leave a car running outside presumably to make a getaway.
