The City of Batavia ended the fiscal year 2009 to 2010 in the black.
A preview of the third-party audit on the city’s financial condition was released today. According to the report, the city operated with a surplus of over 475-thousand dollars. That’s the 4th year in a row that the City of Batavia has shown a surplus on its bank account.
Batavia’s Freed, Maxick and Battaglia firm performed the audit. The firm credits a more fiscally conservative budgeting process and an efficient municipal water system among the reasons why the city has remained solvent.
City Council is scheduled to look over the entire audit at the Council Meeting, Monday night. That meeting is set for 7pm.
