Four drug suspects rounded up following a search warrant for a Vine Street home.
Arrested on various felony counts for possession of crack cocaine were:
34-year-old Sara Butler of 3 Vine Street, 23-year-old Steven Hirsch of Raymond Avenue, Batavia
and two Rochester residents, Cheetara O’Neal and Quinton Spinks.
The Genesee County Local Drug Task Force says drugs with a street value of $2,000 were confiscated.
Fire damages a home on James Street in Batavia.
Batavia firemen were called to the Joseph Trigilio home at 4p.m. yesterday afternoon.
Batavia Fire Department Lieutenant Bill Hilchey said minutes after unloading clothes from a dryer, the smoke alarm sounded. Firemen responded and managed to keep flames from spreading beyond the laundry room.
No injuries were reported. Damage to the building was estimated at $5,000 and damage to the contents was set at $2,000.
A 40-year-old Attica woman has been arrested for allegedly raping a 16-year-old boy.
Attica Police say Roberta Arthur of Colony Run carried on a sexual relationship with the boy over a 10-month period.
She has been charged with Rape 3rd Degree, Sexual Abuse 3rd Degree and Endangering the Welfare of a Child. Arthur has been jailed in lieu of $20,000 bail.
Candidates are spending more than they have in the past decade on statewide primaries. The New York Public Interest Research Group says pre-primary filings from 2000 to this year show that ten of the 30 highest filings come from 2010. Officials say races that have brought in the most funding include the primaries between candidates for the Attorney General's office and the gubernatorial race.
The City of Batavia has announced its annual award winners for 2009-2010.
City Co-Employee of the Year: Jodie Freese, Confidential Secretary and Teri Glass, Financial Clerk;
Business of the Year: T-Shirts Etc;
Community Volunteer of the Year: Jeff Gillard and
Homeowner of the Year: David Allen of Lehigh Ave.
The winners will be recognized during the City Council meeting on Monday, September 13th.
The selections were based upon nominations solicited from the community.
