A fire believed caused by yesterday’s high winds destroyed a home at 9148 Roanoke Road in the Town of Stafford. Winds knocked down an electric line between the house and barn. The wire fell on the roof starting the fire.
The house was 187 years old having been built in 1823. There were no inures in the blaze as the family was able to flee the blaze.
An Elba man has been charged with possession of a forged instrument.
36-year-old Narciso Guillen of Elba was arrested for allegedly possessioning a forged federally issued residence card and for attempting to pass it as proper identification. Bail was set at 10 thousand dollars.
31-year-old Richard Orlando of Cable Street in Buffalo was arrested early this morning on charges of criminal mischief and for possession of marijuana. The arrest was made at the Skyline Campgrounds in Alexander. Orlando was arrested in connection with a verbal domestic dispute with his girlfriend. He’s alleged to have smashed a television set and a fan in addition to turning over a refrigerator. Orlando was also found to be in possession of marijuana. He’s in jail with bail set at 150 dollars.
It’s turning out to be a cool Labor Day weekend in the Genesee County. Yesterday’s high temperature was only 65 degrees, the low was 56 degrees. The national weather service is calling for another cool day today, breeze with a mix of clouds and sunshine. Today’s high will only be in the upper 60’s. However it will be warmer on Labor Day with a high forecast to be around 80 degrees with party sunny skies.
