A Honeoye man is facing charges in two counties today after allegedly stealing a car in Batavia, and driving it through a farm field in Livingston County.
21-year-old Richard Brown was arrested on Thursday night after deputies in Geneseo received a report of his involvement in a domestic dispute. He was jailed in Livingston County.
That same night, here in Batavia, a car was reported stolen on Liberty Street in Batavia. Brown's alleged domestic dispute and the car theft were not connected at that time.
Then on Friday, a farmer in Livingston County reported that a vehicle had driven through a farm field and ruined some of his crop. Deputies located the vehicle – which turned out to be the same car stolen in Batavia.
Then, investigators connected Richard Brown to the stolen vehicle, and the farm field incident as well.
Brown now faces charges of Criminal Mischief and Possession of Stolen Property in Livingston County. Batavia Police have also indicated that they will press charges in the near future.
Bail was set at $5,000 cash or $10,000 bond.
