The Empire Center of New York has updated its list of salaries for local, county and state government workers. The highest county and regional salaries were from downstate counties, while the highest paid position was for over 300-thousand dollars to a police and fire chief on Long Island.

Batavia’s numbers in the report are middle-of-the-road – the city has 74 employees with an average salary of about $43,500. Genesee County is also middle of the road with 912 employees, but the county worker's average salary is on the low-end at just over $36,000.

All data comes from the State Comptroller’s Office.
