Computers and TVs are no longer allowed to be thrown out by the roadside after a new law came into effect with the new year. Electronic trash, including smaller electronic devices like DVD players can no longer be placed alongside everything else people throw away. The purpose of the new law is to stop electronic waste from entering landfills and increase recycling of the materials instead. City Manager, Jason Molino expects product makers to notify people of how they can dispose products safely and legally.

One option is the Genesee ARC in Batavia which offers electronic recycling services. Older products such as CRT televisions can be recycled there for 20 cents per pound while newer products like flat screen TVs can be recycled for free. For a complete list of products that must be recycled, go to
