A year-and-7-months after an alleged assault in LeRoy that left the victim with permanent facial disfigurement and scarring, law enforcement makes an arrest.

The LeRoy Police Department has charged 29-year-old Kenneth Smith III with felony counts of criminal possession of weapon and first-degree assault.

Smith is a former LeRoy resident. The current Rochester resident was arrested by officers yesterday.

Police say Smith got into an altercation back in January 2013 in an apartment on Main Street in the Village of LeRoy. He allegedly used a glass item to strike the victim numerous times in the face.

Officers say Smith had a prior felony conviction at the time of the incident. He was arraigned and released under supervision of Genesee Justice.
