A Batavia man is jailed on $50,000 bail for allegedly leading police on a multi-town chase.
Derek McQueen, 27, of Liberty Street is facing a count of unlawful fleeing a police officer, several drug charges and a slew of traffic offenses.
The Genesee County Sheriff’s office reports deputies were trying to pull over McQueen’s Suzuki motorcycle for alleged traffic and vehicle violations when deputies say he took off. The high-speed chase yesterday afternoon started on Lewiston Road in the Town of Batavia and ended in the Town of Alabama.
Once he was apprehended, deputies say they found McQueen in possession of heroin, methadone and morphine and drug paraphernalia. They say he was also found to have an active warrant from the Town of Gates, Monroe County for an unrelated charge.
