The Genesee County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s assistance as it investigates several larcenies at farms around LeRoy in the last week involving livestock.
Deputies say one farm reported two separate thefts – first, 14 black and white bull calves, the second a DeWalt generator and saw and a battery charger. Just two calves have been recovered.
Yet another local farm -- not far from the first -- reported the theft of hay and a milk replacer. Deputies say that detail likely indicates the thieves plan on raising the calves and not taking them to auction.
A witness to the calf thefts described the two suspects as a large white male with either a bald head or very short hair and another suspect as being a larger white female. The witness also told deputies that the suspects fled in a dark-colored minivan, possibly burgundy, with dark tinted windows.
Anyone with information should call Investigator Timothy Weis at the Sheriff’s Office: 345-3000 ext. 3572.
