Information from the Genesee ARC:
It was a picture perfect summer day during the 38th annual Genesee ARC Lullo Memorial Tournament Monday (July 21) at Stafford Country Club. The event features golf, tennis and bocce and is the longest-running charity tournament at the local private club.
Coming out on top in the golf was Steve Pies of Batavia who shot a 75, followed by Steve Harrison, 78 and John Houseknecht with an 80. Low gross honors for women went to Tina Lambert of Batavia an 86.
In the low net category, Travis West came in with a 58, followed by Dave Williams with a 61 and Ed Shultz, 64. Francesca Fuller won low net for women with a 67.
In the blind bogey competition, Todd Kemp matched the blind bogey number drawn of 72.
There were several contests on the course. In the longest drive on 7, James Pixley was the winner and winning closest to the line on 15 was Steve Harrison. Paul Marchese won a Coor’s Lite golf bag and umbrella, courtesy of C.H. Wright in closest to the pin on 8 (3’3”). Bob Gorenflo won a Schwinn bicycle, donated by Adam Miller Toy & Bike in the same contest on 14 (10’4”). The top three winners in the closest to the pin on 12 were Paul Barton (6’1”), Randy Traugott (12’) and Steve Harrison (12’ 5”).
Upstate Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram sponsored a hole-in-one contest on 8 for a 2014 Chrysler 200 (36) month lease. Unfortunately, no one shot an ace to drive away with the new vehicle!
In bocce, the first place team was Krysia Mager, Lisa Dechau, Bob Bennett and Martha Bailey.
Top score in tennis went to Ray Shirtz. First place Team honors went to Dan Harvey and Diane Bonarigo and second place team went to Gary Davis and Steve Rumery.

Also supporting the event were 18 Golf sponsors, 6 Tennis sponsors and 6 Bocce Sponsors. Door Prizes, Silent and Chinese auction items were donated by dozens of area businesses. The 2014 Entertainment Sponsors were Muller Quaker, Doritex, Mancuso Commercial Realty and Erie Niagara Insurance.
A total of 100 golfers, 13 tennis players and 32 bocce players participated in the annual event that raises money to benefit programs and service for people with disabilities served by Genesee ARC. The winner of the $1,000.00 cash drawing was J.K. Lewis of Batavia.
Funds raised in the tournament benefit Genesee ARC’s programs and services for people with disabilities in our community. The tournament is named in memory of Danny Lullo a local businessman who came up with the idea to hold a tournament to benefit the local disability service provider.
