The Ashley Furniture company is expanding in Batavia and opening a furniture showroom on the city’s West side.

The announcement was made this morning in a news release. The Ashley Furniture Homestore Showroom will move into the old F-Y-E store, next to Sport of King’s restaurant on West Main Street.

Timothy Quinn is a managing partner in Wellsville Carpet Town Incorporated, the group that will open the store. Quinn says the Ashley Distribution Center on West Saile Drive is proof positive that the new furniture showroom will be a hit.

"Over the past several years, we've conducted what we refer to as our Batavia Warehouse Sales," Quinn explains, "and doing minimal advertising, but the turnout was always huge. So I think there's a demand, I think there's a want for this type of a store to be set-up in Batavia."

Three part-time positions are still available with the store. Applications are being accepted at the distribution center on West Saile Drive. There may be more in the future:

"If things go well," says Quinn, "then there's a possibility we may even expand on this."

Opening is tentatively scheduled for the third week in August.
