18 stolen weapons are off the streets of Wyoming County following the arrests of two men in Java.
22-year-old Travis Cook and 21-year-old Daniel Lewandowksi, both of Arcade, are facing two counts each of Felony Criminal Mischief, among other charges. The Wyoming County Sheriff’s Department reports the two were allegedly shooting parked vehicles at Java Lake with a sawed-off shotgun on Sunday morning. Windows were shot out on at least 2 cars. The pair also allegedly drove through a fence.
A gunpowder-sniffing dog searched the scene and a suspect vehicle, and discovered matching gun casings. The shotgun was later found in Lewandowski’s home, with 17 other weapons stolen from the Wyoming Gun Shop.
Both Cook and Lewandowski are locked up on 5-thousand dollars bail.

Detective May says things could have been worse; he chalks it all up to good police work.

More arrests are expected.
