Genesee County Health Dept News Release
The Genesee County Health Department has contacted and is working with the Townships of Batavia and Oakfield, as well as the residents impacted by the possible manure contamination. The area of concern continues to be Batavia-Oakfield Townline Road east of Rt 63 and Lewiston Road south of Batavia-Oakfield Townline Road, approximately one half mile in each direction. At this time, the Boil Water Advisory (BWA) is only in effect for residents in this area.
Additional water samples are being collected from drinking water wells near the corner of Batavia - Oakfield Townline Rd and Lewiston Road (Rt. 63).
Residents in the identified area should continue to boil (rolling boil for one minute) their tap water or use bottled water for drinking and cooking. If your well water quality changes as noticed by color and/or smell, immediately stop using it for all household uses other than flushing toilets.
Instructions: Boil the tap water in your home or use bottled water for drinking and cooking. For additional information about a Boil Water Advisory (BWA) and how to stay safe during one, visit this website
