State Senate hopeful Marc Coppola today coming out against current Republican State Senator Mike Ranzenhofer.
Coppola is Ranzenhofer’s Democratic opponent in the November elections.
A former Senator himself, Coppola is calling on Senator Ranzenhofer to decline a nomination from New York’s Independence Party. Coppola says two Independence Party bosses are under criminal investigation for money laundering: Frank McKay of New York City, and Steve Pigeon, a former Upstate Democratic Party chairman.

Coppola says Ranzenhofer can still legally drop what he calls the corrupt Independence Party endorsement by midnight tonight; Ranzenhofer says he has no plans to drop the nomination.

Coppola says Ranzenhofer called for investigation into Steve Pigeon during the 2008 campaign; now he's accepting endorsement from a party Pigeon partially heads up.
