Construction of new suites and apartments for GCC College Village has cleared the county legislature.
Lawmakers endorsed six-million dollars in bonds for the project which includes two new buildings and a maximum of 64 beds.
The College Village complex has been plagued by minor fires, drug arrests and trespassing complaints.
The county legislature has also voted the change the time of their meetings from 7pm to 5:30pm on the second and fourth Wednesdays of the month.

A 22-year-old Livingston County man is dead following a snowboarding accident at Whiteface Mountain near Lake Placid.  Austin White of Hemlock was riding a trail at the ski resort when he crashed and was killed yesterday afternoon. 
White was a senior at the College at Brockport, where he was studying exercise science. 

A Batavia man arrested after he allegedly punched a woman in the stomach.
33-year-old Ricky Leach of Central Avenue was charged with Harassment.
Batavia Police issued a court appearance ticket and then turned Leach over to authorities in Wyoming County where he was wanted on an unrelated charge.

Republican candidate for Governor Rob Astorino says New York's gun reform law the SAFE Act has done nothing to make people safer.  At the Arms Fair in Saratoga Springs yesterday, Astorino said the law was just a headline grabber for Governor Andrew Cuomo that demonizes law abiding citizens. 

Senator Charles Schumer says the disappearance of Malaysia Airlines Flight 370 reveals major problems with global aviation security.
New York's senior senator says he'll introduce a bill called the TRIP Act today to close what he calls a massive loophole in security. 
Two of the plane's passengers were traveling on stolen passports and were able to board because the airline never checked their passports against Interpol's stolen passport database.
