Senator Kirsten Gillibrand and Congressman Chris Collins announce legislation to name the U.S. Post Office in Alden after a fallen army sergeant.

An Alden native, Sergeant Brett Gornewicz died in November while serving in Afghanistan. He was riding a Humvee that was struck by an improvised explosive device, killing him and two other soldiers from New York.

Sergeant Gornewicz was awarded a Bronze Star with Valor for his bravery in saving a life during a firefight.

Gillibrand and Collins say naming the post office after him is a small step in recognizing his bravery and service to our country.
