Genesee County will soon be under two weather watches as temperatures continue to warm up and the snow pack melts.
A Flood Watch is in effect from 6 tonight until 6 tomorrow night.
Add to that, we will be under a High Wind Watch from 10 tonight until 4 tomorrow afternoon. Winds out of the south could gust as high as 50 miles per hour.
A LeRoy man is indicted on charges he sexually abused someone who was incapable of consent.
A Genesee County grand jury has handed up a four-count indictment against 23-year-old Nathan Larson of South Street on charges of attempted rape and first-degree sexual abuse.
The incident allegedly occurred last August.
Larson remains in the Genesee County Jail in lieu of $30,000 bail.
The state of New York is agreeing to reforms that seek to eliminate the widespread use of solitary confinement in state prisons. The agreement comes as part of a settlement of a lawsuit filed by the New York Civil Liberties Union.
New York becomes the largest state in the country to prohibit the practice.
A Western New York Republican leader is scoffing at Governor Andrew Cuomo's proposal to provide college education for state prisoners. Erie County Republican Chairman Nicholas Langworthy says the proposal is an insult to law abiding citizens who struggle to pay tuition or take out huge loans to pay for college.
Cuomo says providing college education to prisoners would help keep them away from crime after being released.
Governor Andrew Cuomo is heading to Rochester today to highlight his budget message. Cuomo will deliver his regional budget address this morning during a visit to Eastman Business Park. Cuomo's 137-billion-dollar budget proposal includes two-billion-dollars in tax cuts, funding for universal pre-kindergarten and a two year property tax freeze.
