Village of LeRoy residents who were against a proposed traffic change on Route 5 have won their argument.
County Legislator Shelley Stein says that the Department of Transportation has dropped plans to make Route 5 two-lanes through the village with diagonal parking.
Stein credited the community for speaking with one voice in its opposition.
Stein said information presented by police and fire officials convinced the state that the proposed changes were not needed.
Route 5 will be resurfaced this summer, but will maintain the same traffic pattern and lanes.
