Earl Sprague, the man convicted of 28 counts of child sexual abuse, has received the maximum sentence 21 years in state prison.
The 42 year old Sprague was found guilty in December of sexually abusing two children dating back to the late ‘90s.
Fred Rarick, Sprague’s defense lawyer, said Sprague’s wife was able to get their children to go along with a story of abuse after she worried she would lose custody
Sprague was indicted on charges he arranged to have a witness against him killed, but the jury did not find him guilty of that charge.
Rarick says he will file a notice of appeal.

From the police blotter this morning:

34 year old Attica inmate Michael Head: he is under investigation today for allegedly attacking a corrections guard. State Police say Head attacked a guard with a pen causing puncture wounds to his face. He had to go to the hospital, so did Head after being subdued by officers.

23 year old Kristopher Staats of Montclair Ave in Batavia:
He’s been charged with petit larceny after allegedly taking 65-dollars worth of steaks from Settlers Restaurant. Staats used to work there.

32 year old Lauren Pellegrino of West Main St.: she has been charged with abandoning an animal and failing to provide food.
Batavia Police say Pellegrino’s landlord alerted them that he found a malnourish dog in Pellegrino’s apartment.
Pellegrino had taken off for a vacation in Florida.
The Genesee County Animal Shelter is nursing the dog back to health.

26 year old Rachel Rast of Caledonia: she’s charged with harassment and resisting arrest.
Batavia Police say they were investigating a disturbance at Batavia Gardens and tried to place Rachel under arrest. There was scuffle and Rachel struck an officer in the head.

Lieutenant Governor Bob Duffy will be in Batavia this afternoon. Duffy
is scheduled to deliver a regional State Budget address at GCC’s Conable building at 2:30 this afternoon.
