A woman who avoided driving after consuming alcoholic beverages was hit by a car in Orleans County.
Amber Holloway, 22, told authorities she was walking home instead of driving after drinking at someone’s home New Year’s Eve when she was hit by a pick-up truck on Route 31A in the Town of Shelby.
The truck, driven by 27-year-old David Erway of Albion, allegedly hit Holloway as she was crossing the road. Holloway was transported to ECMC in Buffalo where she was treated and released about three hours after the accident.
Deputies say neither unsafe speed nor alcohol consumption were contributing factors in the crash on Erway’s behalf. It occurred in a part of the highway where there is no lighting.
