It will be another hot one out there today. An air quality alert has been issued today between 10 a.m. and 10 p.m. for most of Western New York including Genesee, Wyoming and Orleans Counties. The National Weather Service says high levels of ozone can make breathing difficult for those with respiratory ailments.
Temperatures are expected to be in the 90s today but the humidity will make it feel like over 100.
Be prepared to bake all week long as there's no relief until at least Friday.
It was a tragic holiday weekend for an Amherst man visiting Letchworth State Park in Livingston. State Police say 19-year-old Andrew Brinkman fell 300 feet to his death after slipping into the gorge Saturday night. Investigators say Brinkman was on a stone retaining wall when he fell into the gorge. Police say alcohol was not a factor.
Fireworks got too close to a barn in Livingston County. Authorities say the barn on Reeds Corners Road was destroyed. The Phelps family of Groveland owned the barn. There were no animals or farm equipment inside the barn. Criminal charges are pending in the case.
The Livingston County woman accused of killing her boyfriend with a pair of scissors is scheduled to appear in court this week. Prosecutors say 20-year-old Krista Kiblin of Nunda will have a felony hearing on Wednesday. She is accused of killing 18-year-old Joseph Garcia on Friday. Investigators say the murder occurred during a domestic dispute. Garcia was taken to Strong memorial Hospital in Rochester where he died. Kiblin is being held without bail.
Closer to home, the 4th of July Holiday was celebrated in style.
Yesterday’s Picnic in the Park presented by Go-art drew families to a day of entertainment in Centennial Park. On Saturday night, nearly 1,700 baseball fans watched the fireworks show at Dwyer Stadium. Also on Saturday, The Ramble Music and Art Festival drew hundreds of spectators into Jackson Square in downtown Batavia.

53-year-old Cheryl Vagg of Warsaw has been arrested for promoting prison contraband. Genesee County Sheriff’s Deputies say Cheryl hid some pot in her purse while inside the Genesee County Jail.
53-year old Juanita Jackson of Ellicott Street, Batavia has been arrested on a charge of Endangering he Welfare of a child. Batavia Police say Juanita left a nine-year-old alone in the house to care for a three-year-old.
