Batavia and Notre Dame will meet up tonight in the championship game of the Lions Club boys basketball tournament.
You can catch that game right here on WBTA.
Notre Dame defeated Albion 55-40 in game 1 of the first round and Batavia beat University Prep 54-36 in the second game Friday night at Genesee Community College.
The Fighting Irish shot under 30 percent from the floor and went 17-for-36 from the free throw line before finally surging ahead in the 4th quarter for good.
“Finally we made some plays at the end of the game and made some shots,” Coach Mike Rapone said, “but, really, I couldn’t pinpoint a key (to the victory) because I didn’t think we played that well. I didn’t think we had enough intensity at either end of the floor, our foul shooting was not good and we didn’t rebound well. It’s kind of amazing that we were at the winning end of the score.”
Rochester-based UPrep showed up late after accidentally going to SUNY Geneseo, not GCC.
The 4-2 Blue Devils used their defense to take a 23-9 lead in the second quarter and it never got closer than 8 after that.
WBTA’s coverage starts with the consolation game between Albion and UPrep at 6:30 at GCC. The championship game tip time is scheduled for 8:15.
