Authorities in Erie County have yet to release the name of a Corfu man killed in a weekend car accident in Alden.
The accident happened late Saturday morning on Two Rod Road.
Erie County Sheriff’s deputies say the Corfu man’s car failed to negotiate a curve and struck an SUV head-on.
The driver of the SUV was identified as 46-year-old Lisa Kluck of West Seneca.
She was hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries.
If you are working in New York State and make the minimum wage of seven dollars and 25 cents an hour…you’ll be getting a raise this Wednesday, with the start of the New Year. New York is one of 13 states that will be raising their minimum wage. New York’s new minimum wage will be eight dollars and hour. The increase is expected to benefit about 293 thousand works in the state. The biggest minimum wage will now be in the state of Washington with the minimum per hourly wage of $9.23.
A Batavia man has been arrested for assault.
26-year-old Justin Fagan of Ellicott St. Road is accused of punching an individual in the head at an Alexander establishment…knocking him out.
The fracas happened early yesterday morning. Fagan reportedly fled the scene but was collared a short time later.
A home on Pearl Street Road in the Town of Batavia was damaged by fire.
Volunteers from three companies answered the alarm late Saturday night at 30-65 South Pearl. Flames were reported from an electrical line on the side of the house.
No one was injured.
Crews remained on the scene until early Sunday morning.
Batavia City Firefighters were called out to a residence on Bogue Avenue over the weekend. The initial report early Sunday morning was a garage fire. The flames were out when firemen arrived.
