Jackson Primary and John Kennedy Intermediate Schools in Batavia will be closed today due to power and heating issues.
Batavia Middle School and the High School are OPEN.
Closing today due to the weather:
Attica Central Schools and the Wyoming Central School Districts.
Genesee County was to have received around 4 inches of snow overnight but mostly places have twice that amount.
Conditions this morning are vastly improved over early last evening.
Although local highways, both primary and secondary, are slippery – all have been plowed and most have been salted.
There are no weather advisories in effect for Batavia or Genesee County.
The Baby Jesus will soon be back in the nativity scene at All Babies Cherished on Ellicott St.
The statue was reported stolen yesterday.
But it has been found. A Batavia couple found the religious icon lying in a snow bank along Hutchins Street. Arrangements are being made to return it.
A new study indicates that Rochester is the fifth poorest city in the country. The study released by the Community Foundation also indicates that the city has the third highest concentration of extremely poor people in the country.
It indicates that 31-percent of city residents are impoverished, which is only five percentage points better than Detroit, which is listed as the nation's poorest city and recently declared bankruptcy.
