Genesee County communications are partially down today - the Emergency 911 system has been impacted.
Speaking on his cell phone, County Manager Jay Gsell tells WBTA that a technical issue at County Building 2 has caused inconsistency in the county's phone system.
Gsell stresses that the 9-1-1 system is still functional, and the Dispatch Center can still receive calls. But the emergency data system, which automatically gathers information about the 9-1-1 caller, is not working properly.
Gsell says other county offices have been more drastically affected, and inter-office communication is suffering. But he does remind everyone that all county services are still available, even though communication is reduced.
Gsell could not offer a timeline for the system to be fixed - only that he hopes it's repaired by the end of business tomorrow.
