A late-night truck accident on the Thruway in Pembroke has left one person hospitalized today.
State Police report that 43-year-old Sandra Palmer of Tonawanda was driving a dump truck on the Thruway around 10:30 last night. She had apparently just dropped off a load of material at a construction site, but someone forgot to lower the truck’s dump box before Palmer left. She was headed West when she struck the Route 77 overpass. The dump box struck the bridge and Palmer’s truck flipped over.
Palmer was flown to ECMC. She is in fair condition today.
A bridge beam was damaged, but there is no indication today how bad the damage is. Reports from the scene indicate the truck may have been totaled.
