Genesee County should expect six inches of snow on the ground before we even carve the turkeys.

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Watch running from 7 p.m. tomorrow to 7 p.m. Wednesday.

The forecast calls for heavy snow mixed with sleet and freezing rain with snow potentially accumulating six inches or more.

This could definitely hamper Thanksgiving travel Tuesday evening through Wednesday.

UPDATE (3:47): The Winter Storm Watch has been upgraded to a Winter Storm WARNING. The hours are also extended: it will be in place from 4 p.m. Tuesday to 1 a.m. Thursday.
