New York State is providing $225 million in funding to bring 850 jobs to Buffalo.

Governor Andrew Cuomo is in Buffalo today announcing a major development for a high-tech, clean energy development at a Brownfield site in South Buffalo.

The funding is part of the “Buffalo Billion” – a pledge from Cuomo to devote a billion dollars to development in Buffalo.

Cuomo says there’s potential for another 1,000 jobs following the initial 850.

A 90-acre facility with six state-of-the art buildings will be constructed at the former site of Republic Steel along the Buffalo River.

A company from China and one from California have agreed to become anchor tenants. The START-UP NY program will be utilized to attract more businesses by creating a tax-free zone.
