Every vote counts, especially in a hyper-local election.
The Board of Elections started counting absentee ballots today and has announced the results of Genesee County’s two closest races.
First, the LeRoy Town Justice which was separate by just three votes after Election Day last week.
Michael Welsh has defeated Scott McCumiskey by a single vote: 817-816.
The other close race was for the Legislature District 9 seat which consists of City wards 4 and 5. Incumbent Democrat Ed DeJaneiro and Republican Bob Bialkowski were separated by just 21 votes with DeJaneiro leading after votes were counted last week and that is still the case after counting absentee ballots.
DeJaneiro is the official winner by a 405-372 vote.
