A Batavia man is jailed without bail in the Wyoming County Jail following a roadside domestic incident.
Wyoming County Sheriff’s Deputies say 39-year-old Daniel DiLaura of Brooklyn Avenue was having an argument with his wife in the car near Route 39 and Chapman Avenue in the Town of Castile Saturday near 1:30 in the morning. That’s when, deputies say, DiLaura allegedly held his wife inside the car against her will, and also took her phone away when she tried to call for help.
Eventually she called 911 and DiLaura attempted to flee deputies by foot. He was arrested after a brief struggle.
There was an active order or protection in place between the two, meaning DiLaura was in violation. Deputies also arrested him for DWI over the course of the investigation and found that he had a previous conviction with the last 10 years.
Di Laura is charged with felony criminal contempt, unlawful imprisonment and criminal mischief. He is also charged with felony DWI, resisting arrest and consumption of alcohol in a motor vehicle.
He’s due in Town of Castile court Nov. 18.
