A house is a total loss in Pavilion following a fire this afternoon.
It broke out around 2:30 at 7635 Telephone Road between South Street Road and Asbury Road.
“When the first officers got on scene, the fire was coming out of the doors and windows so the structure was what we call fully-involved,” Pavilion Chief Paul Dougherty said.
Homeowner Kenneth Bearce was home at the time.
“Jim and I were out here cutting wood to start out with and one of the chain saws wasn't working well so I took it in the basement to repair it," he said. "I come back out to start puting logs on the trailer and I heard my fire alarm go off in the basement and I walked back in there and it was basically full of smoke. At that point we thought we better get back upstairs and save the dogs.”
Multiple fire companies were called to the scene including outside of Genesee County. The fire brought down multiple power lines near the property and the presence of gunpowder and guns inside the home also made things a challenge.
No one was hurt. The cause has yet to be determined.
