Suspect Arrested in Batavia Assault
A Batavia man has been jailed on a felony assault charge.
Woodrow Horseman has been arrested on a felony count of Assault, 2nd Degree.
Batavia Police say Horseman and another man, who was not identified, got into some kind of feud yesterday afternoon. Witnesses said Horseman threw one punch and his victim went down.
The victim, described only as male from Batavia, was unconscious at the scene and bleeding from the head. He was flown to Strong Hospital in Rochester by Mercy Flight and released this morning.
Police said the investigation is continuing.
Batavia Bookstore to Close
A Batavia bookstore, trying to do business the old fashioned way, has decided to close after eight years.
Present Tense on Washington Avenue will close by November 1st.
The store is selling off its inventory at a discount along with store fixtures and furniture.
Radio Man Retires After 33 Years
A popular voice on Genesee County radio has retired after 3 decades on the air.
Anyone with a Police and Fire Scanner has heard heard thousands of times.
He is Gary Diegelman, a dispatcher for the Genesee County Emergency Dispatch Center:

The Batavia Business Improvement District Promotion Committee announces that the 4th Annual “Taste of Fall Wine Walk”, Saturday, October 5, 2013 is completely sold out.
Batavia Wine Walk Sold Out
For those that have tickets it will be a super evening with wine tastings, foods and special fall discounts at twenty-one different stores and businesses. This has been a sell out for the fourth year with 600 tickets being sold.
The starting point for the event will be at GoArt!, 201 East Main Street. Registration is from 5:00 – 6:00 pm. Ticket holders will receive their bracelets, commemorative wine glasses and a goodie bag. Please bring proper ID. Due to an error ticket numbers 451-700 are invalid.
Enjoy the Taste of Fall Wine Walk and be safe and responsible drivers. There are still Designated Tickets available at $5.00 per person.
