The Genesee ARC’s 9th Annual Friends & Family 5K is coming up on Saturday, featuring a scenic country route along Barrville Road where ARC’s Day Habilitation Center is located.
There will be some closures to look out for, though, for area motorists: the race is scheduled to start at 10 a.m. and the roads along the route will be closed for approximately an hour to maintain a safe path for the runners and walkers.
Race Director Sandy Konfederath says portions of Barrville, Bridge and Luddington Roads will be affected.
The ARC is being assisted by the Town of Elba and the Genesee County Sheriff’s Department.
The Friends & Family 5K is a memorial to Mary Anne Graney who displayed commitment and dedication to people with developmental disabilities and their families. The funds raised at the 5K event help benefit the education of local high school seniors.
Online registration is closed. Walk-in registration opens at 8:45 a.m. on Saturday.
