A 16-year-old LeRoy youth who allegedly took off in a car without the owner’s permission ends up hitting a deputy’s vehicle.

The West Main Street boy is facing five traffic charges including Unauthorized Use of a Vehicle and Unlicensed Operator. The Sheriff’s Office says the teen was allegedly operating the 2000 Dodge Stratus on Route 5 in the Village of LeRoy at around 3 this morning and pulled the vehicle over on Craigie Street where he fled on foot. That’s when, deputies say, the 16-year-old didn’t put it in park and the car rolled into a police car.

The teen is due in court Sept. 23.
